چکیده

We give a formal specification of a new model called Network Membership for reliable mobile communication in asynchronous distributed systems. Our approach is new in the sense that the Network membership service does not have any join or leave procedures. We let the system flow, views are not forced and are installed with stability. The model is less restricitve than others since no consensus is required. The Network Membership allows multiple partitions to operate simultaneously and provides connectivity feedback. We have build on top of this Network Membership service an efficient reliable broadcast service that is resistant to network partitions. The protocol insures that all recipients eventually receive the message even if a receiver has been partitionned away at any time. We show how we use an unreliable channel detector in conjonction with data forwarding and stability to achieve this goal. keywords: reliability, broadcast, mobile communications, group membership, multiple partitions, minority-partition, stability Technical areas: Communication Protocols, Distributed Algorithms

A Benders Decomposition Method to Solve an Integrated Logistics Network Designing Problem with Multiple Capacities

In this paper, a new model is proposed for the integrated logistics network designing problem. In many research papers in this area, it is assumed that there is only one option for the capacity of each facility in the network. However, this is not a realistic assumption because generally there may be many possible options for the capacity of the facility that is being established. Usually the c...

Static and dynamic minimum energy broadcast problem in wireless ad-hoc networks: A PSO-based approach and analysis

In this paper, we address the minimum energy broadcast (MEB) problem in wireless ad-hoc networks (WANETs). The researches in WANETs have attracted significant attentions, and one of the most critical issues in WSNs is minimization of energy consumption. In WANETs the packets have to be transported from a given source node to all other nodes in the network, and the objective of the MEB problem i...

Broadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach

While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

Fast Algorithms for the Free Riders Problem in Broadcast Encryption

We provide algorithms to solve the free riders problem in broadcast encryption. In this problem, the broadcast server is allowed to choose some small subset F of the revoked set R of users to allow to decrypt the broadcast, despite having been revoked. This may allow the server to significantly reduce network traffic while only allowing a small set of non-privileged users to decrypt the broadca...

Synchronous and Asynchronous Group Communication (long Version)

In distributed systems, high service availability can be achieved by letting a group of servers replicate the service state; if some servers fail, the surviving ones know the service state and can continue to provide the service. Group communication services, such as membership and atomic broadcast, have been proposed to solve the problem of maintaining server state replica consistency. Group m...
